Velda has been developing products for aquaria from 1970. An aquarium is a closed system, to which all kinds of patterns apply. This knowledge of aquaria has been applied by us to ponds.

In the early eighties a department was started which specifically aimed at the pond department in the garden centre, which still had to be developed then.

Velda, which started its business in 1969 as an aquarium shop with an area of 30 m2, developed into a company, which had over 100 staff members in 2005.
In the mid-seventies a start was made with the manufacture of a small number of aquarium products. Both manufacture and sales turned out to be successful and the assortment extended gradually. In 1977 a production hall was brought into operation at "de Ossenboer" in Enschede.

The last addition is realized in 2011 and includes 1.250 m2 of production halls and offices. The total surface area of the Velda premises is about 21.500 m2 now.

Meanwhile the Velda Group has several branches. Besides the head office in Enschede there is an establishment called Velda GmbH in Germany and there is Velda Ltd in Hong Kong.
