In spring, you can (re-)plant water lilies. Check the root tuber by squeezing it. A soft tuber indicates rot. Fill the large lily basket with special water lily soil to prevent suffocation of the roots. Place the root tuber in the basket and cover the soil with a layer of pond gravel to prevent leaching. Place the basket in the pond and done! A beautiful water lily with lots of flowers is the crowning glory of the pond. They absorb nutrients from the water, reducing algae. The floating leaves block sunlight and provide shelter for pond fish.
