Square pond

Square pond

One of the most chosen and simplest shape for a pond is the square pond. It is a shape that does not fit or look in every garden. If you have a very natural garden you better consider a different shape. The square pond is usually found in a sleekly designed garden. This pond is easy to build and the advantage is that from the edge you can easily go directly into the depth. Therefore this pond model is often used when you have little space, but still want a deep pond. For example, in connection with the kind of fish you want to keep.

Disadvantage of the square shape is that you always get dirt accumulation in the corners. This accumulation of dirt is then not conducive to the fish. Excessive nitrite and ammonia levels can then occur. You can solve this by placing square floating plant baskets in the corners, for example. With these you can fill the corners atmospherically and prevent dirt accumulation.

A square pond or sleek pond can be appropriately edged with a sleek pond border. Natural stone is well suited for such a tight edging.
