Rosette or Gold Roach
The Rosette (Scardinius erythrophthalmus auratus) pond fish, also known as gold chub or gold rudd, is a member of the carp family. In large ponds, this fish can grow 20 to 35 centimeters in size. You can recognize the Rozette by its red fins and back and silver to pink belly and sides. The Rosette is by nature a strong fish that does not get sick easily. However, it is susceptible to carp lice and fungus.
The pond should be at least 70 cm deep for overwintering and locally shallow (20 cm) for reproduction. A powerful filter is necessary because the chub likes clean water with a little current. Oxygen levels are also very important, so an air pump is recommended. Place Rozettes in a school of at least 10 to 15.
