Aquatic plants in a patio pond

No matter how small the patio pond is, most types of aquatic plants are suitable. But choose plants that stay small. You can choose a very bright pond with flowering plants, but of course a pond with only green floating plants is also very nice. Make sure that no more than 1/3 of the water surface is covered with plants. Then there will still be enough light and oxygen in the pond.

Terrace pond maintenance

Add water to the patio pond on a regular basis, as water can evaporate quickly, especially in the summer. Keep pond plants in check by regularly pruning and thinning them out, this will keep them growing well, which is good for water quality. Use a special bottom substrate for long-lasting clear water and healthy plants. Prevent algae and keep the plants healthy with a water conditioner.

Give the patio pond a big clean early in the spring. You then empty it completely, wash all the substrate, clear the bottom of organic debris and refill it with clean water. In the fall, you can repeat the same ritual. You can then also choose to place the pond indoors, if possible, so you can experience the water sensation indoors for a change.
