UV lamp for the pond
Especially for the pond, there is the UV lamp or UV-C lamp, which kills many harmful organisms – such as algae – by ultraviolet light. With a UV-C filter, pond water is passed past a lamp that emits ultraviolet light. The water is sterilized, so to speak, and floating algae, pathogens and fungi are killed. This provides crystal clear water and a healthy pond environment for fish and plants. The UV-C portion of the light spectrum damages the DNA of microorganisms so that they do not multiply. As early as 1910, drinking water was purified with UV-C technology.
Many pond filters are equipped with a UV-C unit in the first filter stage. Here the UV light cannot come into contact with the microorganisms in the biological filter. Choose a UV lamp with circuit breaker to prevent contact with the radiation harmful to eyes and skin. If you replace the UV-C lamp annually, you are guaranteed optimal operation throughout the pond season. Would you like to receive more advice about UV lamps or about ponds in general? UV lamp against green water
Floating algae turn pond water green. You no longer see any of the fascinating marine life. Especially in young ponds with nutrient-rich water, they develop very quickly. A nasty consequence is that the growth of oxygen plants stagnates. And thus the water remains green. A permanent solution for green turbid pond water is a UV filter with UV lamp. Not only koi ponds and fish ponds, but also swimming ponds and mirror ponds remain clear.
