Clean water surface with a pond skimmer
A skimmer keeps the water surface of your pond nice and clean. Many dirt particles end up on the water surface from outside the pond. Blown-in leaves, pollen, dead insects, as well as food particles give the pond an unkempt appearance. In addition, it is important to prevent this floating debris from sinking to the bottom and disturbing the pond environment. A pond skimmer continuously removes debris from the water surface. Types of skimmers
If you equip your pond with a skimmer, you can choose from a wall-mounted version in the pond rim or a floating surface skimmer. The latter can float on the surface of the water at any location and collect debris. With a wall-mounted skimmer, the placement of the mouth opening in relation to water flow and wind direction is very important. In Western Europe, the wind often blows from the west or northwest. The more surface debris floats toward the pond skimmer, the better this debris can be collected.

Skimmer maintenance
A pond skimmer is easy to maintain. The only thing you need to do regularly is to empty the collection basket. Checking the pump for contamination once a year is also advisable. In the winter turn off the pond skimmer in connection with freezing. Do you have further questions about the skimmer or questions in general? Tip from Velda
In the winter it is important to bring the Skimmer inside. This is because part of the skimmer is on the surface and can therefore freeze or suck up small ice particles, causing it to jam. For more tips on winter, read our blog on "pond tips for winter".
